LH Torana SL/R 5000 Tribute – Barbados Green
Offered for sale is this exceptional LH SL/R 5000 Tribute, finished in the iconic Barbados Green and powered by a 308 V8. The car is equipped with an engineered T5 5-speed manual gearbox and a 9” LSD differential.
Inspired by the legendary two-lap victory of Peter Brock and Brian Sampson in the Gown-Hindhaugh entered LH Torana SL/R 5000 L34 at the 1975 Hardie-Ferodo 1000, this tribute captures a defining moment in Australian motorsport history. It’s no surprise that SL/R 5000 tributes are among the most sought-after Australian muscle car recreations, second only to the Ford XY GT-HO Falcon.
Finished in one of the most desirable Torana colours, this Barbados Green example underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2024. The rust-free body was refinished in 2-pack paint, complemented by L34-style flares fitted to factory specification. The vehicle has been Dynamat soundproofed throughout and fitted with a complete new rubber kit.
Inside, the cabin has been fully re trimmed in black “golf ball” trim and features full SL/R instrumentation. All gauges have been re calibrated, while the dashboard and crash pad have been restored. The car retains its original AM radio, with a discreetly mounted hidden stereo for modern convenience.
Mechanically, the vehicle is built to perform. The 308 V8 produces over 350 horsepower and is equipped with Yella Terra roller rockers, a 4BBL Rochester carburettor, 4-core radiator, Bosch alternator, electronic ignition, and HPC-coated stainless extractors. Power is delivered through a T5 5-speed manual transmission with a heavy-duty clutch, paired to a shortened 9” differential with 31-spline axles and a 3.5:1 LSD ratio. The vehicle has been fully engineered in NSW, with comprehensive documentation and a detailed file of receipts for all work completed.
The Torana rides on 14” Rallye wheels with Holden centre caps and near-new tyres. Braking is handled by hydraulic discs at the front and drums at the rear, maintaining the original Torana stud pattern. An original spare wheel is also included in the boot.
This SL/R 5000 Tribute is offered with full NSW engineering certification, restoration documentation, and mechanical receipts.
