My own personal car, built with the permission of HDT and road registered!
Built from a low km grandfather’s car that was a rust-free shell and undamaged.
The car is as follows:
Originally a 6 cylinder VK and white in colour with a brown trim- correct color combo for the replica.
New 2 pac paintjob with white and Dayglo Orange applied
Genuine HDT Group C Bodykit fitted and painted in correct colours
Bonnet fitted with VK Group 3 scoop and bonnet pins
All HDT 05/Marlboro Livery Decals
Now fitted with an original VK 308 motor that has been stroked to 355.
Motor built by BG Precision Engines- Approx 400 Hp
Quad Webbers that function beautifully with correct intake manifold
Stainless steel oil catchcan/breather setup
Twin thermos and new radiator
5 Speed Heavy Duty Tremec fitted with red suede Momo gear knob
Extractors fitted
2 and 1/2 inch custom and mandrel bent exhaust
New Bilstein suspension
King Springs
Full Nolathane bushing
2 piece tail-shaft with new universals
Rebuilt 28 spline VL Turbo diff with mini-spools
Diff fitted with stainless steel Morrisey breather cannister in boot
Braided fuel line
Braided brake lines
VN Group A Twin spot callipers
New 330 mm slotted rotors on front
New slotted rotors on back and rebuilt callipers
ROH Peter Brock Commemorative Wheels on front 18×10 shod with 265/30/18 tyres
Rims on rear 18×12 shod with 285/30/18 tyres
5 Point Saebelt Harness fitted to both front seats
Race style seats with height control fitted
New carpet fitted
Momo steering wheel
6 point Polished Bond Roll Cage with padding fitted
New old Stock headlights and taillights
Dry break female fitting installed on bootlid etc, etc.

The ORIGINAL Big Banger
The VK’s were the fastest and finest of the Group C Commodore breed. The Holden Dealer Team rolled out a brand new pair of Day-Glo VK’s for the last 3 big races of the year. Brock and Perkins won the James Hardie 1000, and Brock went on to win the Sandown 500 and the Surfers Paradise 300.
